Basically, the brightest minds seems to be focusing on how to satisfy aggregate demand, keep all those SUVs and McMansions humming. I don’t think there is a fish in the sea, a tree in the forest, a bird in the sky, or a beast on the land that shares this goal. We can’t accomplish much except death by maintaining current levels of consumption, and we can’t accomplish anything at all by focusing on a single species. I realize that when anyone raises such points they are called elitists and told to think of the global poor. To hell with this can’t from people who have not demonstrated much interest in the global poor until their own gluttony is attacked.

This is exactly why I need to get out of retail.
